One the 12th Day of Christmas...

12th Day of Christmas - Treat Yourself!

You’ve made it! Christmas is TOMORROW! Hopefully your shopping is finished and you can sit back and put your feet up today! (If not, our stores are open 8am-4pm for your last-minute shopping!!) We have a few things that will help you TREAT YOURSELF when the holidays are over!

Essential oil mists by Ebb and Flow Apothecary are a quick and easy way to unwind from daily stresses. Spray a little on your face, on your pillow, or in the room and inhale deeply to enjoy the full benefits of essential oils and healing crystals - yes, some sprays have a crystal inside! All scents are made in Iowa City, Iowa by designer Ty Bramwell.

Serene House aromatherapy diffusers are a great way to keep your body and mind happy! The machine turns water into a light mist that keeps your room and skin hydrated, and the diffuser itself contains a color-changing LED light that serves as mood lighting or a soft nightlight. For scented mist, add a couple drops of Serene House essential oils to the diffuser water to keep you happy! Essential oils are 100% natural with no GMO's, no parabens, no synthetic fragrance, and made with organic ingredients.

If you need a little aromatherapy on the go, wear one of these pretty filigree diffuser necklaces! Just add a few drops of scented/essential oil to the felt insert and inhale the aroma all day long. The necklace itself is a great statement piece, too.

Cuddle up on the couch and soothe your aches and pains with a Bucky Heartwarmer! These pillows are filled with buckwheat seeds (produced without pesticides or fertilizer) and are fragrance-free - so perfect for anyone with allergies or sensitivity to smells. Simply throw the pillow in the microwave if you need some heat, or put it in the freezer if you need a refreshing, cool pillow. We’ve been selling Heartwarmers for a few years, and they are very popular!

Treat yourself with some hydration! Swell water bottles will keep your drinks cold for 24 hours or hot for 12 hours. They are a stylish way to eliminate the waste of plastic water bottles, plus the company has partnered with UNICEF to help provide water to vulnerable children. Do something good for yourself and for others in need! Also, if you still need to finish your shopping today, these bottles would make a great last-minute Christmas gift...just sayin’!

There it is! Bibelot’s 12 Days of Christmas! Thank you so much for reading and for shopping local with us throughout the years. Bibelot has proudly been a holiday shopping tradition in the Twin Cities for 50 years, and we are happy to continue that tradition in the future!

From all of us at Bibelot to you, we wish you a safe and happy holiday!

On the 10th Day of Christmas...

The 10th Day of Christmas: Hostess Gifts

Oftentimes, one of the very best parts of Christmas is being included in a gathering of friends or family.  It's only natural that you want your hostess (or host) gift to be the very best as well.  Let us at Bibelot help you with a few ideas.

With its start at a farmers market in New Hampshire twenty-five years ago, Stonewall Kitchen has become a go-to when it comes to hostess gifts.

Dessert sauces consists of Sea Salt Caramel, Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel, Bourbon Pecan Caramel, and Peppermint Dark Chocolate -- All of which are delicious over ice cream, pound cake, shortbread -- or honestly, straight out of the jar.

*UPDATE: We are sold out of the Stonewall Kitchen holiday gift packs, but we have plenty of individual caramel sauce jars and are happy to box and ribbon them for you (free of charge)!

Sometimes all it takes is the sparking of one sense to bring to mind an entire season.  Such is the case with the crisp fresh cut scent of Frasier Fir by Thymes.  It literally evokes all that is Christmas Up North.  Bibelot offers many Frasier Fir items, all of which make lovely hostess and thank you gifts.  Be it any of several candle options, diffusers, soap, sachet, hand lotion, other toiletries -- all wonderful gifts sure to please.  With Frasier Fir, the magic of season will continue well past December 25th.

For over thirty years, Minnesotans have been enjoying the simple beauty and practical functionality of Boards by Joel.  Locally-resourced hardwoods now serve as trays, trivets and cutting boards in 8", 10", 12" cross slices that are treated to be durable and food safe.  A smaller coaster size has has been lacquered to be moisture resistant.  Whether ash, butternut, hickory or maple, all have their unique ringed patterns and innate appeal.

Have you had the pleasure of being introduced to Swedish dishcloths?  Once you have, you'll want to share them with everyone you know.  Invented in 1949 and widely used in Scandinavia since then, these amazing thin spongelike cloths are made of cellulose (wood pulp) and cotton, absorb up to 15 times their weight, are reusable and can be machine washed.  They are great for light cleaning, make a perfect eco-friendly alternative to paper towels and are so so cute!  In addition, when these dishcloths do run their course, you can just add them to your compost.  No worries!  Check out Bibelot's collection of several styles and introduce your friends and family.  You won't regret it!

Looking for a thoughtful gift for a child leaving the nest?  A couple first starting out?  Maybe you want to begin a new family tradition, something that can be passed down to help fondly remember Christmases Past.  The Christmas Memories Book is just what you're looking for.  With its red and gold journalistic cover, this is festive enough for Santa himself.  This 20-year diary has space for photos, favorite cards and most importantly for all those warm priceless recollections of a holiday as special as those you share it with.

Dating back to the 1840s, Christmas Crackers are a favorite part of the holidays in the UK. Shaped like oversized wrappers for sweets, crackers are fittingly also called bon-bons. When pulled from both ends -- Crack! -- prizes are revealed. A little silly, a lot traditional, why not let Bibelot introduce Christmas Crackers to your list of seasonal pleasures?  Choose from either red and white candy stripes or gold toned birch trees, these come in sets of 6 with each cracker containing a paper hat, a joke and a novelty toy.

On the 8th Day of Christmas...

The 8th Day of Christmas: Cocktails & Beer

Fill those gift bags with lots of Christmas cheer! We've got tons of options for cocktail connoisseurs, winos and beer lovers!

Shopping for a special someone interested in the craft brewery and distillery scene? We have the perfect way to aid them on their quest -- and help you score as the best gift giver of the season!  Craft Notes is a combo guide/journal/passport that provides info on eighteen carefully selected locations that make up an impressive part of the local craft culture.  With tasty information, a place to record personal notes, and a free specialty beer or drink waiting at each spot this is an unbelievable value worth several times over the $25 purchase price.  Craft Notes will no doubt see you toasted and your thoughtfulness remembered again and again.

Someone once said they'd like to buy the world a drink.  Well, in case you'd like to toast the world with a drink, Bibelot has just the thing!  A beautiful set of six toasting flutes each fashioned with its own individual gracefully gilded script: Cheers, Skol, Sante, Chin Chin, Salute and Prost.  To all the world this Christmas and in the year to come: Peace and Cheers!

The Twin Cities have much to offer adventurous drinkers as well as their hosts. Bibelot is proud to offer Minneapolis' own line of unique handcrafted mixers by The Twisted Shrub.  Apple cider vinegar, fruit and pure cane sugar along with your own creative ideas combine to make an unforgettable drinking experience -- be it mixed with seltzer, soda water, champagne or more.  Four fantastic flavors to choose from, or why not choose all? Pineapple Habanero (possibly combined with bourbon), Peach Habanero (add whiskey), Apple Ginger (maybe vodka), and last but not least Strawberry Lime (perhaps soda, or even tequila).  You simply can't go wrong.

Bartending 101.  These bar glasses by Kikkerland will make even the most novice mixologist look, and more importantly, taste like a pro.  In sets of four, either 8 oz. or 16 oz, 4 separate recipes are printed directly on each glass giving you sixteen practically foolproof opportunities to impress.  Within each set, there is a glass featuring Gin (think Salty Dog or Bees Knees), Rum (Mojito or Dark and Stormy among others), Vodka (Bloody Mary, White Russian) and of course Whiskey (maybe a Dinah or perhaps a classic Whiskey Sour).   Give these bartending glasses as a gift and then check in regularly on your student's progress!

There is a certain art to hosting the perfect cocktail party.  A certain art and a definite style. Add some flair and turn your everyday gathering into an absolute Mad-Men-inspired bash with hip cocktail stirrers sure to set a mood.  Faceted gems crafted from genuine plastic, bronze trophies, glittery gold stars shiny Christmas trees and Santas -- all of these are available to decorate the stirrer blending your very own highball.  And please, please don't forget the colorfully mischievous monkeys waiting to hang by their curly tails!

Finally, during this season of love and goodwill, there is much to be thankful for. Spread that feeling of gratitude and appreciation with these beautiful stemless wine glasses imprinted in gold leaf with the sentiment "Give Thanks".

And, as always, we at Bibelot are thankful for YOU!

On the 7th Day of Christmas...

7th Day of Christmas: Local Cookbooks

Whether they're a master chef, a beginning cook or maybe just someone who loves to drool over scrumptious recipes -- Bibelot has a cookbook for everyone on your shopping list!

You may call it a rice, you may call it a grain, you may even call it a grass -- I just call it delicious!  With native Beatrice Ojakangas' Best of Wild Rice, you will find how-to's as well as recipes for this Minnesota delicacy. Appetizers, soups, salads, sides, mains, even desserts -- they are all here in this handy must-have guide.  I know I'm now dreaming of a Wild Rice Cheese Ball, followed by Smokey Wild Rice Soup, followed by Herbed Chicken and Wild Rice Casserole, followed by Cinnamon Wild Rice Pudding.  Oh my!

Speaking of Beatrice Ojakangas, I'm sure you know someone who will love her new memoir Homemade.  Full of stories and recipes drawn from her Finnish heritage and Northern Minnesota culture, you'll be comforted and inspired by this accomplished author of 29 books as well as contributor to many of your favorite gourmet magazines.  Well done, Beatrice!

Dining at the Birchwood Cafe in Minneapolis is more than a meal.  If you're a guest of Birchwood, you're part of a community - a seasonally influenced, responsibly sustained, and (yes!) very well fed community.  With twenty years of stories and memories to share within the pages of the Birchwood Cookbook, founder Tracy Singleton and chef Marshall Paulsen bring you to their table and do their very best to make sure you leave nourished in more than the usual way.

Have you met the Chowgirls?  Catering experts Heidi Andermack and Amy Lynn Brown may not be born-and-bred Minnesotans, but they have embraced the Twin Cities, and the feeling is mutual.  Check out their new book Chowgirls Killer Party Food: Righteous Bites and Cocktails for Every Season.  The perfect gift for your favorite host or hostess becomes the gift that keeps on giving -- with any luck you will be invited to their next killerly-awesome home happening!

We have just the right gift for that talented cook you love to be amazed by.  In her Tasting Minnesota, native Betsy Nelson draws from a background in art and psychology to bring a satisfying richness to her flavors with multi-layered yet easy-to-follow recipes. Enticing and mouthwatering photos will make this a gift you won't want to part with.  Buy an extra copy and then you too will be able to savor local specialties such as Lemon Ricotta Hotcakes, Lutefisk Benedict and Lamb Meatballs with Polenta.  Doesn't get much better than that!

Beth Dooley's In Winter's Kitchen is a plain, yet beautifully written ode to the local food scene -- the farmer, the hunter, the gatherer, the organic growers, the co-ops, the eco-responsible.  A truly lovely gift for anyone who recognizes the need and importance of real and healthy food for a real and healthy life.

What happens when you take a classical musician out of Brooklyn and transplant her to a North Dakota farm, adding in a Norwegian American beet farmer husband and a few chickens?  You get Molly on the Range by Molly Yeh, a mega-popular supremely talented food blogger and overall good storyteller. This is a joyous, funny, honest read that would and could and should be appreciated by anyone fortunate enough to receive it. Oh yeah, there's some dang good recipes as well!

The 6th Day of Christmas...

The 6th Day of Christmas: Kids & Teens

The little ones in your life may have a direct line to Santa, but sometimes the rest of us need a little help.  Here's a few ideas for kids and teens from your friends at Bibelot...

What better way to open doors, foster imagination and inspire a lifelong love of reading than to give treasured books to the youngest ones on our shopping list?  Bibelot has many favorites - both old and new.

Ezra Jack Keats' charming picture book Snowy Day allows us to spend some time with Peter as he revels in the first snowfall of the season. In addition, the author's prize-winning illustrations come to life with the adorable Snowy Day plush doll.

What?!?  Curious George is celebrating his 75th birthday?  What a special time to share this beloved little monkey!  We have the commemorative edition of the classic book as well as some of his other adventurous titles. Beyond the page, we also have dolls, lunch boxes, jack-in-the-boxes and baby onesies.

Have you fallen in love yet with The Christmas Wish by Minneapolis authors Lori Evert and Per Breiehagen?  All it takes is one look at this stunningly photographed fairytale book set in 18th century Norway.  Follow little Anja as her story continues in The Reindeer Wish and most recently The Brave Little Puppy board book. You can also take home your very own Anja doll as well as her Reindeer and Husky friends.

Your teen is sure to love a gift from Da Bomb! Two inspiring young sister entrepreneurs from the Twin Cities have brought us these fabulous smelling, brilliantly packaged bath fizzers complete with a surprise bonus hidden within.  Choose from jars of eight Amaze Balls or Fortune Telling Bombs as well as singles perfect for stocking stuffers: Earth Bombs, Love Bombs and Groovy Bombs and Fortune Telling Bombs.  They're fun, they're fizzy, they're fantastic!

Ready to be amazed?  We have the Star Cube Geometric Puzzle just for you and yours! Magically changes from a cube to a 12-point star to two stars and back again to a cube. Always challenging, never frustrating, addictive fun for those 8 to 108!

On the 5th day of Christmas...

5th Day of Christmas - Be Cozy!

Oh the weather outside is frightful, but a gift from Bibelot is so delightful…! It may be cold & snowy outside, but inside the store we have many products that will help keep you warm & cozy for the season!

Stay warm with some faux fur accessories by Pandemonium! Handmade in Seattle, Washington, these scarves, hats, and mittens look fabulous and are sooo soft (seriously, you have to feel them!!). We sell a variety of colors and styles that are sure to appeal to someone on your shopping list - or maybe you need a new pair of mittens?

Faux fur not your thing? Bundle up in a beautiful blanket scarf! Whether you are walking around outside or cozying up on the couch, a blanket scarf is the perfect (and fashionable!) accessory. We have a large array of styles to choose from - something for everyone on your list!

Minnesota Mittens are warm and cozy sweaters for your hands! With the warmth of wool on the outside and the softness of cotton on the inside, these mittens are functional and comfortable. Originally manufactured by Winona Knitting Mills, which is now closed, Minnesota Mittens, Inc., took over the Mill’s mitten-making tradition in 2001. All mittens are knit in Minnesota from excess yarns or from other material left over after sweaters have been cut. The fabrics are then washed at a Regional Rehabilitation Center and then hand crafted by Rehabilitation Centers or by other centers in the area. Perhaps the greatest thing about Minnesota Mittens is not the mittens themselves but the company’s mission “to promote opportunities for employment for people with disabilities while creating a quality product at a good value for our customers.”

Winter accessories aren’t the only way to stay warm! Sip your favorite hot drink in style with our Get Cozy ceramic travel mug! Its buffalo check design is sure to bring a smile to any plaid-lover’s face and keep warm while you travel over the river and through the woods!

Tea-drinking is a tried and true method of coziness! Pair your favorite mug with one of our delicious holiday teas by The Republic of Tea. Try minty Peppermint Bark, spicy Comfort and Joy, or many other options! And if you can’t decide, you can always opt for the trio tin sampler (which also could be split up to make three separate gifts!).

Cozy up your home with a festive-scented holiday candle! With so many options to choose from, it’s hard to choose just one! Balsam & Cedar, Snowy Night, & Christmas Joy are a few of our favorites, but we have plenty others to choose from! What we love most about these particular candles is that they come in packaging so gorgeous that you don’t really need to gift-wrap them! Oh, and they all smell divine!

What’s your favorite way to be cozy in the wintertime? Whatever you do, we hope to help you have a happy holiday season! Stay tuned tomorrow to see what the 6th day of Christmas will bring...
